Áine O’Dwyer created a theatrical sequence of new performances specifically for Athens, activating the architecture of the space and atmosphere of the neighbourhood.
A playful exploration of the unique music of the building and its environs, incorporating a choreography of streetside mopeds, a window-cleaning ritual and a remotely microphoned walk transmitted live to the captive audience involving chance encounters with passersby and a local dog.
The event marked the launch of her book Poems for Play, inspired by her time on the Greek island of Syros, and was recorded to form a new musical work, released as Daedalus Airs.
Áine O'Dwyer is an Irish experimental musician, known for her live performances and recordings, which explore the aesthetics of sound and its relationship to environment, time, audience, and structure.
